How it works

How Rentective works

  1. 1

    Search

One search asks every supplier we work with at the same time, for the dates and the driver age you actually have.

  2. 2

    Compare

Prices are totals. Fuel policy, mileage, excess and what the desk collects are on the card, not behind it.

  3. 3

    Book

Pay through the supplier’s own gateway. You get the voucher, the reference and a booking you can change online.

The headline figure is the total for your dates, including mandatory fees and taxes. Anything the desk collects separately — a fuel deposit or a security hold — is shown beside it before you book, never after.

A driving licence held for the minimum period the supplier states, a credit card in the main driver’s name for the security deposit, and your booking reference. Your confirmation lists exactly what your supplier asks for.

Most rentals are free to cancel up to a stated deadline, which we show as an absolute date and time in the pick-up location’s own timezone. After it, a supplier fee may apply, and we show the fee and what comes back before you confirm anything.

Yes, from Manage my booking. If the change does not alter the price you complete it yourself, straight away. If it does, it becomes a request we confirm with the supplier — and your existing booking stays valid the whole time.

The supplier named on the offer. We are the broker: we compare, take the booking and support it, and the car is handed over by the rental company at the desk.

It changes both the price and whether a supplier will rent to you at all. We ask for it up front so the totals you compare are the ones you can actually book.

Most suppliers hold a security deposit on a credit card at the desk and release it after the car comes back. The amount is on the vehicle page before you book.

Some rates are confirmed by the supplier rather than instantly. If yours is, we say so plainly and email you the moment it is confirmed. We never call a booking confirmed before the car is.
